| The design
of this real estate sales office was influenced by a historic Bend building, the Pilot
Butte Inn, which unfortunately had been demolished in 1973. A landmark building of
Bends past, we admired the Pilot Butte Inn attributes, and wanted to design a
project that would retain some of that pride and character in the usage of materials and
imagery. |

|
Surrounded by smaller one story buildings,
we didnt want the building to loom over the neighbors. We reduced the visual scale
of the building by varying elements on the facade. A sloping stone base initiates the rise
of the structure. A dark band of board and batt siding provides a pedestrian level of
detail and makes a substantial cedar shingle upper level float. Oversized eaves and
support outriggers calm the rooflines to finalize the structure.
| The interior
ambience is one of distinguished comfort. Extensive woodwork and wainscoting throughout
the building provides a professional atmosphere. Each sales agent is provided with a
semi-private built-in work station which allows for communication with other agents
activities. An atrium staircase
opens up to the loft office space above. Separate enclosed conference areas and document
work stations are dispersed within the spaces. |
